Greetings from the Music Ministry of St. Paul's Lutheran Church!
The musicians of our various ensembles strive hard to provide meaningful music for worship services and special events during the year. Opportunities to serve come in the form of group participation, or as a Sunday soloist if you are an instrumentalist or a vocalist.
The active program insures that uplifting and beautiful music can be heard at each and every worship service. Because you are a part of the worship leading team you find deeper meaning in the service itself as you recognize the connection your musical offering has to the scripture or the message. Come participate with us in one or more of our ensembles!
Nancy Krause, Director of Music Ministry
Soloists and small ensembles of all kinds are needed throughout the year to offer special music for worship. This is done on a volunteer basis, and is first come-first serve. Nancy Krause is available as an advisor as needed.
The Academy operates out of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in NW OKC located on N Council Rd between NW Expressway and Hefner Rd. The Church serves as the building for the Academy, but it is not affiliated with the school in any other capacity and does not receive any funds from the Academy nor have any controls or influence on the operation of the Academy other than in the use of its rooms and pianos.
This group is an outstanding asset of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open to any high school graduate or adult. The choir rehearses for 90 minutes each Wednesday in the music room beginning at 7pm. They sing weekly in worship services, but get one Sunday/month “off” September through June. The choir is a welcoming place. We believe All God’s Creatures Have a Place in the Choir and rejoice when a new person joins our midst. The choir participates in outside community events, such as the Reformation Music Festival held by the Lutheran Musicians of Central Oklahoma and also occasionally presents larger choral works periodically throughout the year. Come spread your wings, join our group and find new meaning in your worship experience as you become an integral part of the service.

The Blackwelder Brass is the top graduate brass quintet at the Wanda L. Bass School of music at Oklahoma City University. The group performs more than 50 times a year, exploring a varied and imaginative repertoire in recitals, sacred music, and formal ceremonies.
Members also are featured soloists in several larger ensembles.
The members of the Blackwelder Brass are graduate assistants in the school of music and are awarded a full tuition waiver as well as a stipend. The students in this group receive significant professional playing experience through a paid residency program at three of Oklahoma City’s churches
INCLUDING St Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Blackwelder joins us for worship once/month during the months of the school year. They are responsible to prepare Prelude, Offertory and Postlude music as well as accompany all the hymns and oftentimes the choir anthem. The energy they bring to the worship service is contagious, and the congregation sings with extra exuberance on those weeks.
