Good Friday Worship is at 7:00 p.m. on
Friday, April 19th. The most solemn day of the church year will be commemorated by a short service followed by the Cantata, "Who Do You Say That I Am", presented by the Adult Choir with Orchestra and Monologues.
A Cantata of Jesus’ Ministry and Passion
The title of our cantata is a poignant question asked one day by Jesus. The question resulted in a wide range of answers depending on the perspective of the responder. For those who observed His life-changing impact on their own lives and others he was: The Messiah; Emmanuel, Teacher. For the skeptics who doubted His authority He was a deceiver, a charlatan. For the faithful few who were present at His crucifixion, He was a Man of Sorrows, the sacrificial Lamb of God. The question remains valid today. And it demands a response from all of us as we again review the biblical recording of Christ’s earthly life and the impact on the lives of those he touched. Biblical characters from Jesus’ time who will offer their perspectives on Who Jesus was are the apostles John and Peter; Mary, the sister of Lazarus; Pontius Pilate and Joseph of Arimathea. The music is powerful, heartfelt, touching, beautiful. You will leave in silence as you reflect on the sacrifice of Christ’s death. Please join us for this meaningful presentation.
